Stuttgart, 12 January, 2017 – APCOA PARKING Deutschland had a good reason to celebrate at the gala opening concert of the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on 11 January, 2017. With Germany’s President Joachim Gauck and Chancellor Angela Merkel among the honorary guests, the 2,100-seat concert hall was inaugurated with ceremonial speeches and a concert from the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra. The Hanseatic city’s latest landmark also boasts a smaller concert hall for 550 concert-goers, a 224-room hotel, several restaurants and cafes – and, of course, a car park.
“Our car park also had prominent visitors and enjoyed its own festive opening,” said Detlef Wilmer, Managing Director of APCOA PARKING Deutschland. APCOA’s on-site staff took a celebratory photo to immortalise the parked motorcades of both Chancellor Merkel and President Gauck. APCOA has been operating the Elbphilarmonie’s parking areas since November 2016 under a long-term framework contract, and has introduced a new parking management system, among other measures.
The Elbphilharmonie car park, located at Platz der Deutschen Einheit 1, is centrally located in Hamburg's Hafencity district. A total of 433 parking spaces in spacious and brightly lit parking areas are available around the clock. On the ground floor, and with direct access to the concert hall and hotel, the car park also offers VIP parking, with oversized parking spaces and comfortable access to the car park’s exit.
